Two double nominations for Dutch Concrete Awards 2021 for Hi-Con

Two double nominations for Dutch Concrete Awards 2021 for Hi-Con

Doubly good news for Hi-Con Nederland: Concert Hall Amare in The Hague and Apartment building The Line in Amsterdam Overhoeks have both been nominated twice for the Dutch Concrete Awards (Betonprijs) 2021. The jury has nominated fifteen projects in six categories out of 56 entries. Concert Hall Amare has been nominated for the categories Utility and Groundbreaking Construction (for innovations in concrete constructions). Apartment building The Line has been nominated for the categories Housing and – again – Groundbreaking Construction.

Hi-Con submitted Concert Hall Amare together with JCAU Architects & Urbanists and The Line together with Orange Architects. We are very proud of these great nominations and are looking forward to the award ceremony during the Beton Event on Thursday 18 November. Hi-Con will win at least one Concrete Award for sure, because in the Groundbreaking Construction category, only Amare and The Line are among the contenders for this prestigious biennial award.

Concert Hall Amare

Concert Hall Amare is the first large-scale application of sprayed GRC (glassfibre reinforced concrete) in the Netherlands.

Jury motivation:

Apartment building The Line

The Line is a light-footed apartment building with a delicate facade grid. The extremely slender balconies and columns in the facade are made of UHPC (ultra high performance concrete).

Jury motivation:

"This apartment building has many special features, of which the architectural application of the ultra high performance concrete in the ultra-thin balconies and columns is the most striking. This concrete application also saves CO2."

Developer and owner: Ontwikkelcombinatie Overhoeks (Amvest & Ymere)

Architect: Orange Architects

Contractor: Bouwbedrijf De Nijs

Supplier UHPC elements: Hi-Con Nederland

Main structural engineer: Goudstikker de Vries

Structural engineer UHPC elements: Pieters Bouwtechniek
