NEW LIFE WITH CONCEPT BALCONIES

Located in the northwestern part of Risskov in Aarhus, you will find the new and attractive neighborhood, Risskov Engby, which offers modern homes and green communal areas. The area was previously an old industrial area but has now been replaced with a varied selection of homes, institutions, shopping opportunities, sports facilities, and businesses, making it a popular choice for those who want to live in a scenic area close to Aarhus city center. Risskov Engby has placed great emphasis on green communal areas and beautiful brick architecture, and the environment has been at the center of the design.

For the large residential building of 16,000 m2, Hi-Con has supplied 169 concept balconies in ultra high performance concrete (UHPC). The 169 balconies were delivered in 4 different types:

Type 1: 97 balconies in size 1.75 x 2.75 m

Type 2: 68 balconies in size 1.50 x 2.75 m

Type 3: 3 balconies in size 1.50 x 4.50 m

Type 4: 1 balconiesin size 1.75 x 2.75 m

All balconies were delivered in gray CRC with surface G2 and a plate thickness of 92 mm. They were also manufactured with a slope and equipped with galvanized lattice railings.

The construction was originally designed with steel balconies, but after a dialogue with Hi-Con, we found out that we could get balconies in ultra high performance concrete at competitive prices, which are both slim and elegant to look at.

Concept balconies in UHPC

Our concept balconies are the first standardized solution in UHPC in Denmark. The balconies are produced in UHPC CRC i2 and are designed to be slim, competitive, strong, and durable. Choosing our concept balconies gives you the same material properties as our custom balcony solutions, offering significant advantages for architects, contractors, and housing associations.

Lower CO2 emission

Choosing Hi-Con's UHPC balconies results in a 25% reduction in CO2 emissions compared to traditional concrete balconies. Additionally, 50% less material is used in the production of UHPC balconies as they can be cast so thinly. This makes it a solution that is well-suited for projects with an environmental focus. Furthermore, our UHPC material has a lifespan of over 100 years, which means that beautiful balconies can be enjoyed for many years to come without worrying about replacement and maintenance.
